Welcome to Moksha Homes in Portugal!
We offer a tranquil and beautiful retreat for your stay. This property is over 300 years old and was the first property to be built in Casal da Serra, meaning 'The Mountain Couple'. Moksha Homes offers you the unique opportunity to have your mods and cons, but also experience history. The house celebrates the marriage of its Moorish and Latin roots and is nestled in a serene location, a well-kept secret cherished by renowned authors, artists and therapists, such as Sam Santos, Shell (http://www.animo.pt), Felipa Seguro (https://www.instagram.com/lugardamagnoliabranca?igsh=MWp2c3VzYmxyd3M5aA%3D%3D&utm_source=qr) and many others. The local area is surrounded by very friendly lambs and sheep, which love to be petted, as well as super friendly dogs and other animals. It’s also a great space for bird spotting - as we are close to a national bird reserve.
We aim to offer a comfortable and relaxing experience, allowing you to create unforgettable memories during your stay with us, where you can break away from the ordinary and immerse yourself in pure tranquility.
Welcome baskets:
Welcome baskets are offered to all our guests.They comprise of one bottle of wine (per booking), one bottle of water per guest, complimentary teas and coffee pods, sweets, biscuits and snacks.
Bedding and Towels:
Bedding and bath towels are laid out for all guests - so it is important to confirm exact numbers, to ensure your stay has been as well prepared for as possible.Pool towels are also made available for residing guests.
THINGS TO DO
Festivals and Events
Every year there are countless local festivals throughout Constancia and Abrantes (the local areas to Moksha Homes-Portugal) and events in and around the surrounding region, which everyone is welcome to enjoy, as well as take part in.
Constancia (the closest town) hosts a variety of events which start at Easter. The whole town turns into a new creature and reinvents itself. The famous Luis Camoes festival takes place over a week and the whole town transforms into a medieval village with Lords and Ladies traipsing everywhere! All are welcome to take part or just watch! It’s great fun. Then the summer festivals begin from June, where the different local towns and villages host a festival for the weekend!
Cultural Sites
The world famous site of Fatima - where the young shepherds had their visions - is only 30 minutes away. Fatima hosts several major celebrations throughout the year.
The famous Castelo Almorol is a mere stones throw away (20 minutes), giving us a romantic vision of what was. Torres Novas Castle on the hill is 20 minutes away.
The incredible Knights Templar site hosting Castelo de Tomar and Convento de Cristo, take us through history to the times of the Moors and the Knights Templar. The amazing places make it easy to visualise & immerse what once was…
Nature and Outdoors
There are a plethora of locations to enjoy through out the seasons, from local lakes (Aldea do Mato), meandering rivers (Rio Tejo and Rio Sesere), scenic viewpoints and stargazing (Centro Ciencia Viva, Constancia).
There are incredible Grutas (caves) to visit and discover.
The largest complex in Portugal is nearby (30 minutes away) the Grutas de Mira de Aire.
The local woods near the house as well as in the district are worth exploring to discover local biodiversity. The Parque Ambiental Santa Margarida offers guided sessions for adults and children; these are great fun and informative, but must be booked.
Leisure Activities
From horseback riding in Constancia and canoeing in Barragem de Castelo de Bode or the River Zezere to discovering stunning nearby waterfalls in Penedo Furado and charming towns (Constancia, Abrantes, Rio de Moinhos), there’s something for everyone to enjoy, no matter their age.

Amenities
At Moksha Homes Portugal, we aim to be the hosts with the most, thus offering you a cornucopia of items to make your stay as comfortable as possible.
Kitchenette and sitting room: Clothes rack cutlery (knives, forks, spoons, tea spoons) cooking utensils, knives , plates , quarter plates, saucers, cups, mugs, glasses, saucepans, frying pans, washing up liquid and sponge - at initial entry,
tea towels, coffee machine, fridge, air fryer, oven , oven mitt, microwave, kettle, single plate electronic hob, cutting boards, Smart TV, WiFi , dining table and chairs, sofa, coffee tables,
Wood burner (for heating in winter), bedding for all beds booked (some spare bedding) , blankets and duvets for each bed. bath towels (for number of people booked), face cloths or mitts (for number of people booked),
pool towels (for number of people booked),
hair dryer, iron, ironing board, fans, hand wash in each bathroom - at initial entry.
Private pool (8metres x 4metres): please ensure all children are accompanied in the pool area. The deep end of the pool is 2m deep. Double room: with en-suite bathroom (stone hand basin, walk in shower and toilet)
Bunk room: 2 single bunk beds - top bunk is NOT suitable for very small children, as it is quite high. There is a fixed ladder for access to the top bunk.
Mezzanine: 2 single beds, 2 chairs, bedside table and chest of drawers.
Dining area: has a large table and 8 chairs for dining.
Sitting room: large sofa and coffee tables
Main bathroom: bath, shower, toilet, bidet and hand basin.
BBQ area: has a fixed BBQ (charcoal NOT supplied), and a seating area with chairs and tables. There is also an outdoor sink for washing in the BBQ area.
Back garden, front garden, water fountain and entry gates.
Welcome pack: includes one wine bottle per booking, a bottle of water per booked guest, sweets, tea, coffee pods, sugar, snacks and biscuits.
Closest supermarket: This is located in Constancia - 3km away.
